Tropkillaz emerged from the union of two of the biggest producers and DJs in Brazil: Zegon and
Laudz. The duo represents the best of urban music in Brazil and in the world. Precursors of Trap
Music, the duo were the first responsible for bringing Trap to Brazil, in an original way, mixing Bass
Music, Funk, Dancehall to the most diverse styles of dance music.
In almost 10 years of career, Tropkillaz has released more than 150 tracks, including authorial singles
and remixes. In addition to having played in the main festivals and clubs in the world, where they
played more than 300 shows in 40 different countries. In 2018, they signed a global contract with
Universal Music and released hits such as “Milk & Honey”, in partnership with the American singer
Aloe Blacc, “Loko”, with Major Lazer, Kevinho and Busy Signal, and “Bola Rebola”, with Anitta, J.
Balvin and MC Zaac. Also in 2018, the duo competed for the MTV Millennial Awards Brazil, winning
in the Anthem of the Year category with the single “Vai Malandra”. In addition to competing with the
song for the Prêmio Multishow for Brazilian Music, winning in two categories: Música Chiclete and
Best TVZ Clip.
In 2020, they competed for the Latin Grammy in three categories: Best Urban Music Song, with the
song “Rave de Favela”, a collaboration between Major Lazer, MC Lan and Anitta; Best Music Video -
Short Version with the song “Saci (Remix)”, a collaboration with the group BaianaSystem and Best
Contemporary Pop Album in Portuguese Language, with the album “APKÁ!” by the singer Céu, which
features the song “Eye Contact”, a collab with the artists. Of the three nominations, the duo took
their first prize along with the Brazilian singer Céu. In the same year, they competed alongside the
BaianaSystem group with the music video for the song “Saci (remix)” at the 1st Los Angeles Latin
Music Video Festival (LAMV), winning in three categories: Best Music Video, Best Editing and Best
Director with Rafael Kent.
In February 2020, the duo had another unprecedented achievement, during the Super Bowl final at
Hard Rock Stadium, in Miami, the concert with Shakira and Jennifer Lopez took place, but what
many people don’t know is that one of the songs played at the event has the involvement of
Brazilians. “Que Calor” by Major Lazer and J Balvin, in collaboration with El Alfa, brings the duo's
signature as co-producers and co-author. The song was performed during J-Lo's solo performance,
where J Balvin appeared as a guest and gave a snippet of the hit, midway through a medley.
However, this is not the first time Tropkillaz has a song at the Super Bowl, which is considered one of
the biggest North American sporting events. In 2014 the DJs and producers had the remix of the
track “Hide”, by N.A.S.A. (Zegon's side project), starring in a Sonos sound system advertising, and it
reached 100 million viewers, who watched the football championship final.
In addition to the advertising shown at the Super Bowl, the duo has already signed the soundtrack of
commercials for T Mobile, Chanel, Nike, Suzuki, Mercedes, among others. In 2019, they also signed
the original soundtrack for the Netflix series Sintonia.
In addition to soundtracks for advertising and series, Tropkillaz also has a long history with
soundtracks for games, with remixes and original tracks produced for Need For Speed, FIFA 2020,
Free Fire, VALORANT, among others.
The duo has also worked on productions and remixes by artists such as Bob Marley, Major Lazer,
Childish Gambino, DJ Snake & Justin Bieber, Years & Years, Jason Derulo, Sting, Snoop Dogg, Billy
Idol, Lenny Kravitz, Criolo, Rita Lee, among many others. They recently started into the K-pop
universe with the single “LALISA”, by the singer LISA, a member of the South Korean girl group
BLACKPINK, where a sample of the duo is used.
Formed in 2012, the duo uses each other's age difference and background in a unique way. Zegon
had his kick-off in Brazilian hip-hop and is one of the most experienced national producers. He was
part of the most classic formation of Planet Hemp and produced records of renowned rap names,
such as Sabotage, Racionais MC’s, Marcelo D2, MV Bill and many others. He also expanded his work
to the rest of the world with the electronic music project N.A.S.A., along with the American DJ and
producer Sam Spiegel, where they have worked with big artists like Kanye West, M.I.A, David Byrne,
Karen O, John Frusciante , Lykke Li, Seu Jorge, among others.
Laudz is a DJ, producer and songwriter. He started his career in 2006, where he gained prominence
producing for big names in national rap and trap such as Criolo, Marcelo D2, EMICIDA, Projota,
Rashid and MV Bill. Being one of the most established names of the new generation of producers
and DJs, he has already caught the attention of great international artists such as Snoop Dogg and Dr.
Dre.
Tropkillaz were also pioneers in taking Brazilian funk to the mainstream, “Vai Malandra”, a track with
Anitta, MC Zaac, Maejor and DJ Yuri Martins, hit over 1 million plays on its premiere date and due to
the amount of streams received in In its first days of release, the song debuted in Spotify's Top 50
and became the first song in Portuguese to reach the Top 20 of that chart. Today the song already
has more than 204 million plays on Spotify alone. On iTunes the song appeared in the Top 10 in
Portugal and within the Top 200 in Switzerland and at #206 on iTunes Global. The song also entered
the top 10 of Billboard's Social 50 ranking, charting at number four. It was also the most played pop
song on Brazilian radio in the first week of 2018.
The music video for the song, 20 minutes after its release, surpassed the mark of 500 thousand
views. The video reached the mark of 8 million views in the first ten hours, thus beating the Brazilian
record for the highest number of views in the first 24 hours. Upon release, the production received
over 15 million views within 24 hours on YouTube, consolidating the Brazilian record for the most
views in one day and also the fastest Brazilian video to receive 1 million likes, breaking the previous
record. Two days after its premiere, the clip racked up over 23.4 million hits, hitting the 30 million
mark the next day, and with just 17 days since release, the clip has surpassed 100 million views.
“Bola Rebola” was also an instant hit and hit 1 million streams in just 12 hours on Spotify, in addition
to being the most streamed song on the platform in Brazil for more than 30 days, today the single
already has more than 173 million views. plays. The track was also certified Platinum in the US and
peaked at number 12 on Billboard's Latin Pop Airplay. On iTunes, the song quickly reached #1 in the
download rankings in Brazil and also entered #2 in Ecuador, Top 20 in Portugal and Top 100 in
Mexico, Spain, Switzerland and Italy. The official video of the song had its exclusive release on the
website of the North American magazine Complex. Today the production has more than 179 million
views on Youtube.
In 2021, the duo attended the celebrations for the birthday of legendary musician Bob Marley,
where they performed an official remix of “Jamming”, with artist Tiwa Savage. In addition to a series
of releases, such as the official remix of “Saúde”, by Brazilian singer Rita Lee, among others.
